Holistic Holiday Gift Guide
Shopping for someone with sensitivities can be complicated sometimes. How do you know if a product is all-natural, gluten-free, or non-toxic? Well, I have taken out all the work for you and I hope that this gift guide lends a helping hand this holiday season. This year, it’s especially important to try and support small businesses, even more if they are sustainable or black owned. I’ve done my best to put together the ultimate list of gifts that your loved ones will adore, but will also support those businesses in need right now! Holistic brands are hard to come by and we must go out of our way to show them our love this season. Happy online shopping!
Beauty & Skincare
Olive & Grayce Herbal Remedies - $15-$45
I am personally biased because I took this picture and am friends with the owner, but that doesn’t change the fact that these are some of the best smelling and fast-acting products I’ve ever tried. She spends weeks infusing oils with real herbs and botanicals in her home, packages everything herself, and even her mom & dad lend a hand in shipping and packaging. It’s a whole family affair and the quality shows. Her Glow Botanical Face Serum is my absolutely favorite…it smells like fresh citrus you get to lather all over you before you go to bed and I’m not kidding when I tell you my skin was softer and brighter the day after I used it for the first time. She also sells fantastic tinctures and essential oil roll-on blends that she infuses herself as well. Glow serum runs at $45 and the roll-ons are as low as $15!
Zoya non-toxic nail polish holiday sets -$30
I first discovered Zoya at an all-natural nail salon in Dallas called Pink Pedi. Highly recommend a gift certificate for Pink Pedi as another gift option if you’re in the area! This nail polish is the only one I have ever worn that didn’t feel like it destroyed the quality of my nails when I removed the polish and there is no nasty chemical smell like you’re used to getting from a salon. I was addicted to painting my nails when I was younger, so finding this brand has been my saving grace. They have a variety of colors, shades, and finishes like shimmer, matte, metallic, and regular. There are some great holiday sets available on their website or amazon ranging from $15-$30.
Gua Sha from Scratch Goods- $15
Jade rollers and Gua Sha have been trending products for a while and are always a good idea for someone looking to up their facial game. What makes this one unique is that it’s sold by a fantastic small business in Chicago, IL that I visited with friends a few years ago. They have an all-natural facial bar you can attend with friends where they help you build your own facial products out of all-natural ingredients. One of my favorite experiences of all time. Definitely check out their website for all of their amazing products at very low prices. This Gua Sha is fantastic for a facial massage in the morning to stimulate lymphatic drainage, collagen production, and reduce inflammation. It runs on their website for only $15. They also have adorable ceramic mask bowls for $25 and a lavender mint salt soak for only $8! (Great stocking stuffer!)
Beauty Counter Good Scents Body Butter Trio- $41
It’s no secret that Beauty Counter is the best option when it comes to all-natural beauty. They have the best quality products you can find on the market and everything is fantastic! Their body butter trio is such a classic luxurious gift and comes with 3 delicious scents all made with essential oils. I use their entire Counter Match skin care line and I’m never going back to anything else. There are fantastic sales throughout the holidays so if you’re thinking about swapping brands, now is the time to try it out. Another holiday favorite is their jellies lip glosses ($39) that are a great stocking stuffer! My good friend, Kaley Were, is a makeup artist who offers online classes and tutorials as well as sells Beauty Counter. If you’re ever looking for tips and tricks, check out her youtube!
Earth Therapeutics organic cotton Exfoliating hand gloves- $9
This is probably the most oddball gift idea, but one of my favorites. I started using these gloves to exfoliate in the shower once a week this past year. It has been such a massive game changer for me and I don’t know why I never thought to do this before. They’re easy to wear and I just use my soap to lather up before I scrub my entire body. I am left feeling smoother than I’ve ever felt and there’s nothing like sliding into bed with smooth skin. Pro tip: You can buy these for like $5 at Whole Foods.
Cooking & Food
Bodum Milk Frother- $30
Perfecting an almond milk latte is a true art and throughout the years I’ve tried many ways of frothing non-dairy milks that didn’t work out so well. This is the easiest kitchen tool that makes the perfect foam no matter what kind of milk you’re using. It also heats up the milk in the process and is extremely simple to clean as well! Such a great gadget to have around for those special breakfast occasions!
Eat well do good ceramic bowl- $65
Earth and Element handmade ceramics are some of the most beautiful pieces you could ever buy. They’re fantastic for open-shelving kitchen aesthetic or food photography. This specific bowl was created in partner with Nature’s Path during COVID-19 to support food banks around the nation to provide organic meals to families in need during this unprecedented year. 100% of the proceeds of this go towards meals for people who need them this holiday season. I couldn’t imagine a better gift to give this year.
Hu Holiday chocolate set- $25
If you’re paleo, you’re no stranger to Hu Kitchen. An amazing restaurant in NYC that closed down this year in order to focus on their packaged goods that you can buy in grocery stores around the country. This year they answered our cries for a holiday gift box, but unfortunately it can only be purchased online for certain parts of the country. There’s even an option to customize if you’d prefer their mint, orange, or raspberry flavors!
eating evolved paleo/vegan holiday calendar- $35
Eating Evolved is my other favorite chocolate brand and they got extra creative this year with the very first paleo/vegan advent calendar with an assortment of all of their chocolates mixed throughout! Such a fun thing for a family, or a party of one, to enjoy the sweetness of the season.
Moon Juice: Full Moon Dust Box- $35
Moon Juice is an amazing shop in California that sells adaptogenic drinks and foods only using the highest quality ingredients to support our health and vitality. Adaptogens are a blend of mushrooms that can be consumed in many different ways. They help the body adapt to stress and can support many systems including detoxification and hormones. Their Beauty Dust helps combat accelerated aging, improve skin clarity, and protect from free radicals. Brain Dust helps support focus, mental stamina, and concentration. Sex Dust helps support healthy hormonal balance for creative energy, in & out of the bedroom. Power Dust helps restore energy, promote recovery and support a healthy immune system. Spirit Dust helps increase resistance to tension and irritability, and helps calm and elevate mood. Dream Dust helps increase resistance to stress and tension, and promotes deep, restful sleep. Try all of them by purchasing the full box for $35!
Berkey Water Filter- $250-$400
I’ve talked a lot about the benefits of drinking enough water and staying hydrated, but you’ll need the best quality drinking water in order to see true benefits. The Berkey water filter is the best filtration system on the market and can eliminate chemicals like Chloramine (chlorine & ammonia) from your local water supply. They also have fluoride filters you can purchase as well that makes for the most delicious water you’re ever tasted. The best part about the Berkey is that they last for years depending on how much water you drink. I’ve had my filters for four years and we take it on vacations or camping so that we never have to buy filtered water. It’s worth the price, and right now until December 21st their bundles are 30% off! There is no better time to invest in a Berkey than during their holiday sale.
Legit Bread AIP Holiday Cut Out Cookies by Unbound Wellness- $9.50
AHHH!! The very first packaged AIP holiday cookie mix and it was made by my good friend, Michelle Hoover. Such a cheap and easy way to spread some cheer this holiday season to everyone no matter what their diet may be! I had the honor of photographing a few pages of Michelle’s cookbook and I’ve tried all of her cookies….folks they do not disappoint. Her gingerbread cookie recipe in her AIP Comfort Food Cookbook is the best I’ve ever had. Another great gift idea!
Organo Gold Ganoderma King Coffee- $30-$52
For the coffee lovers! This is the coffee I recommend to every new client if they don’t want to give up their daily cup. If you are dealing with unwanted symptoms from caffeine, or the coffee itself, Organo is the brand for you. Some brands of coffee can be high in mold which is why it can cause a reaction in a lot of us dealing with chronic illness. Caffeine itself is an extra burden on the liver and I had to go without it for years. Organo’s King coffee is the first I have been able to tolerate. It’s organic and mold tested, but the real benefit is the Ganoderma spores from the Reishi mushroom that are incorporated with the instant coffee. Ganoderma spores are the most powerful part of the Reishi mushroom rich in antioxidants and they have so many health benefits including detoxification, immune, and liver support. The Ganoderma helps support the liver to handle the caffeine better and makes for the most invigorating energy. I feel clear-headed, uplifted, and ready to go all day after every cup. The Black coffee product isn’t organic but it’s cheaper at $30 for another option.
Home Goods & Self-Care
BB Bombs All-Natural Candles- $18
Use code EVERYBODY for 10% off your order.
I found BB Bombs at a market in Brooklyn last weekend and I’ve never been so overjoyed to talk to someone about the benefits of all-natural, non-toxic products. A black-owned, small business located in Staten Island, BB Bombs makes everything at home and provides an insane variety of amazing products. Their candles are made with cotton wicks, essential oils, and coconut & apricot wax so you can actually use the oil on your skin if you want to once you’re done burning it! Their soft leather and frosted lingonberry were my favorites I would highly recommend! They even have a $25 candle series to bring awareness to breast cancer. 20% of the sale of each candle will be donated to the Susan B. Komen foundation.
EC3 Air Purification Candle for mold- $13
For those mold freaks out there like me, this is the candle for you. Micro Balance Health Products are one of my favorite companies providing mold support for your home and body. The EC3 Air Purification Candle is a simple way to control mold spore levels in the indoor air. The heat from the burning wick aerosolizes the natural botanical embedded in the soy wax. The wax has no added fragrances to avoid inflaming the chemical sensitivities common in sinusitis sufferers. Each candle will burn for approximately 12 hours.
Check out my How To Survive Mold Toxicity eBook if you’re in need of support after discovering mold in your home.
Boheme Candles- $45
The designer brand of all-natural candles. These aesthetically pleasing and luxurious candles have all-natural wax, are clean burning, vegan, have cotton wicks, are phthalate-free, AND sustainable! It really doesn’t get much better than that. If you’re looking for a fancy gift for anyone in your life, this will definitely impress.
Saje essential oil holiday blends- $40
Saje has quickly become my favorite essential oils company. Saje is rooted in environmental sustainability and ethical responsibility. All of their ingredients are derived from safe and renewable resources. Packaging is simple and made of recycled or recyclable materials. “What we put in our bodies and what we put on our bodies is directly related to our own health, as well as the health of our planet.” They have a fantastic variety of holiday blends to add to that perfect holiday ambiance in your home. You can buy individual bottles from about $14 or a box of all of them for $40.
WTHN Acupressure Mat Set- $65
There’s nothing we need more this year than a break from stress, tension, soreness, and pain in our bodies from the WFH couch vibes we have all become accustomed to. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupressure is a method, where pressure points throughout your body are triggered to promote a more open flow of energy. Acupressure mats are designed to produce similar results as acupressure from a practitioner, and the plastic spike discs on the mat are used to promote relaxation and healing by clearing meridian blockages in the body. There are cheaper brands you can buy on Amazon, but WTHN is an amazing holistic brand based in NYC that also sells things like face cupping tools and ear seeds for acupressure relief throughout the day. They even have a Black Swarovski ear seed kit that provides 50% of proceeds to support Black Women for Wellness, an organization dedicated to increasing access to health care for Black women and girls through health education, empowerment and advocacy.
